Norfund as a responsible investor
Norfund Grant Facility
|
In order to enhance our role as a development investor, Norfund can provide grants in addition to the commercial investment.
Grant funding is used in three areas:
1. Project development: Contributions to the establishement of new enterprises and funds that otherwise would not have been launched because of high costs and/or high risk.
2. Strengthening development effects: Development of skills and cultures for good corporate governanec and concern for the environement and social conditions. In otder to achieve this, considerable resources are spent on enhancing skills in the enterprises by way of education and training, in addition to effort to improve corporate governance.
3. Expanded social respontibility: Our enterprises are found in local communities that often are not well developed. This gives rise to a need for the enterprises to take a wider responsibility for the employees, by contributing to the heathcare, education and development of the local community. These efforts include support to programmes to combat HIV/Aids among the employees and their families, as well as actions that can strengthen development effects in the local context. |
