Agua Imara was established in 2009 as a subsidiary of SN Power Invest with Norfund, BKK and Tr√łnderEnergi as shareholders. The objective was to build a portfolio of hydropower projects in Africa and Central America. Agua Imara is today owned 64.9% by SN Power, and 35.1% by BKK.

Norfund controls indirectly 32.45% of the company through its 50% ownership of SN Power.
