Regional fund in East Africa, with emphasis on Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Managed by Abraaj. SME focus with actual investment sizes ranging from USD 0,6 - 5,7 million.

AEAF invested in small- and medium-sized enterprises in East Africa, with a particular focus on Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.  Other investors included the British CDC and the Swiss SIFEM.

The fund was active in the development of its investments, and provided management skills, strategy and business development, in addition to improvement of financial management and reporting in the enterprises. The long-term development effects of these efforts included sound and viable enterprises, competence enhancement and transfer, places of employment and economic growth.

Aureos East Africa Fund is today incorporated in the Abraaj Group. The fund has reached the end of its term and is in the process of being wound up.
